When it comes to breast reconstruction, nipple and areola enhancement are typically the "finishing touch". This treatment is a form of micro-pigmentation, or cosmetic tattooing.
We offer 3-D Areola micro-pigmentation using the latest techniques to obtain optimal results. Our Permanent Makeup Artist Barbara Kilgore has been a professional artist for over 25 years and understands how to use shade, highlighting, and texture to create amazing realistic effects. She is certified is Permanent Makeup and 3D Areola restoration.
This process is done after breast reconstruction to obtain a more natural looking breast. You should be at least 3 months post-surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy treatment before you have this done.
Micro-pigmentation can be used to achieve a full 3-D Areola and nipple or to correct Areola loss/asymmetry following breast surgery. As part of breast reconstruction, many patients want their areola to match their new breast. You'll discuss your vision with Barbara during your pre-treatment consultation. During treatment, Barbara will measure and outline the nipple area. Then, she will embed organic pigment beneath the skin to create a natural, permanent and beautiful nipple and areola.
Micro-pigmentation can carry some risks of infection, allergic reaction, granulomas and keloid formations. Barbara will talk with you about skin care and how to minimize these risks after your treatment.
Be aware that certain products — such as those containing aloe vera, Retin A or glycolic acid — can cause the tattoo to fade more quickly. In fact, the pigment will fade by about 30-40 percent after the first week of treatment and may require a touch-up yearly — especially if you are fair skinned.
We can also use Micro-pigmentation to help camouflage white and discolored scars.
Barbara will work closely with you to match your natural skin tone to achieve very natural results.
